Vincent H. Okamoto speech at the Japanese American War Memorial Court on Veterans Day 1995.

Superior Court Judge Vincent H Okamoto was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. His

decorations included the Distinguished Service Cross (our country’s second highest award for bravery),

Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He cared very deeply for those who gave their lives in

that war as well as their families and all who served with them. He was the inspiration and driving force

behind the building of the Japanese American Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This speech was given at

the dedication of the Memorial on November 11, 1995. Judge Okamoto passed away on September 27,

2020. He lived his life well and will be missed by all.
